An aMEOWzing new trend that has spread across the country is now in the Triangle Area. The cat café! These are coffee shops offering a place to spend time with kitties, but to also give patrons a chance to meet cats looking for a forever home.

Cat Tales Cat Café is now open in a two-story space on Chapel Hill’s Franklin Street where guests can get to know the cats in a cage-free comfortable lounge. They are partnering with a local shelter, The Goathouse Refuge of Pittsboro. Visitors can spend an hour at a time in the Cat Lounge, sipping on drinks, enjoying a snack, and getting to know the cats. Don’t want to sit with the cats? Limited seating is available in the café for enjoying a snack while still being able to see some kitty action through a glass wall. Reservations are encouraged, and there is an hourly fee of $12. To learn more and to schedule a visit, click here.

And, coming soon to Raleigh, Purr Cup Café will provide visitors the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and tasty treats while hanging out in the café area with the cats. The lounge will have limited space, so there will be a small reservation fee. Cats will come from their partner, Meow House Cat Rescue, and this newest cat café will be located at 210 Prospect Avenue, just south of downtown Raleigh. Visit them on the web by clicking here.
